EABER Singapore-Jakarta Visits
In conjunction with the Second Jakarta Dialogue on Comprehensive Regional Security, EABER, under the leadership of Peter Drysdale and Shiro Armstrong, organized a small delegation visit to Singapore and Jakarta. The delegation engaged in several key meetings with prominent organizations and individuals involved in regional multilateral engagement.
In Singapore, the delegation held discussions with the secretariats of APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). These engagements aimed to foster closer collaboration and explore avenues for enhancing regional economic cooperation within these frameworks.
The visit to Jakarta included productive meetings with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the delegation exchanged views on regional multilateral engagement and discussed opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the economic and security spheres. The delegation also had the privilege of meeting with Edi Prio Pambudi, the Indonesian G20 co-sherpa, to delve into matters related to the G20 agenda and its relevance to regional multilateral efforts.
The visits provided valuable opportunities for EABER to engage directly with key stakeholders involved in regional multilateral engagement and deepen their understanding of the regional dynamics and priorities. Through these discussions, EABER aimed to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on regional economic cooperation and explore ways to foster sustainable and inclusive development in the Asia-Pacific region.
