ERIA Annual Board of Governance Meeting and High-level meetings with Indonesian officials
Peter Drysdale participated in the 16th Governing Board Meeting of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and engaged in high-level meetings with Indonesian officials. The meetings took place at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, Indonesia, and focused on addressing shared challenges in the post-pandemic era.
During the Governing Board Meeting, participants pledged to enhance cooperation in tackling key issues such as energy security, digital transformation, and sustainability. The discussions aimed to foster greater collaboration and explore innovative approaches to address these challenges in the region.
Additionally, Peter Drysdale and Rania Teguh held meetings with Indonesian officials to discuss comprehensive regional security and the agenda for Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship. This included discussions on important upcoming events such as the trade ministers’ meeting in July and the leaders’ summit in September.
The delegation also had the opportunity to meet with prominent thinkers from Indonesia, including Mari Pangestu, who recently completed her tenure at the World Bank. These engagements aimed to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia, particularly from an academic perspective, and foster greater understanding and collaboration between the two countries.
