SIIA Virtual Roundtable on Infrastructure & Connectivity: ASEAN Centrality and Collective Leadership

A virtual roundtable on ‘Infrastructure & Connectivity – ASEAN Centrality and Collective Leadership’ was hosted by the Singapore Institute of International Affairs (SIIA). The online event attracted research experts from the ASEAN region, including Australia and Japan. Participants evaluated the impact of COVID-19 on infrastructure development and discussed the role infrastructure could play in the post-pandemic recovery process.

The discussions emphasised the importance of regional integration and enhancing ASEAN centrality through collective leadership. Participants explored the potential of ASEAN mechanisms such as the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 (MPAC) and institutional innovation to improve infrastructure delivery across the region. The roundtable also highlighted the need to support ASEAN in navigating geopolitical turbulence through large-scale infrastructure initiatives.
